-FrInkO-

NEWCASTLE, England - Ayoze Perez came on at halftime to score the winner for the second straight week as Newcastle beat a lacklustre Liverpool 1-0 Saturday in the Premier League. Vapormax Flyknit 2 Ale .Moussa Sissoko broke into Liverpools penalty area in the 73rd minute at St. James Park and tried to play in Remy Cabella. Alberto Moreno intercepted the cross but was unable to clear, and Perez lashed the ball in from 10 metres (yards). We were punished for a mistake and that is what cost us the game, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said. We passed the ball well. The options in front of the ball were good but we probably lacked that little bit in the final third of the field. We did not create as much as we would have liked. It was Newcastles second victory against a top club in four days, having eliminated Manchester City from the League Cup on Wednesday. Newcastle defender Steven Taylor praised manager Alan Pardew for responding to intense pressure from supporters to leave the club by inspiring his side to a fourth straight win.Everybody is fully behind him and the main thing is, we keep winning and everybody is happy, Taylor said. Its exciting and obviously we have got a bit of momentum going into the next game but we just keep taking it one game at a time and not getting carried away.It was yet another Liverpool display lacking the energy and creativity it became renowned for last season and another Premier League game where Mario Balotelli failed to find the net for his new club, taking the unwanted streak to eight matches.Papiss Cisse came closest to opening the scoring in the first half for Newcastle on 37 minutes, when Glen Johnson cleared his shot off the line after Simon Mignolet had failed to claim a corner.Three minutes later, Martin Skrtel sent a free header wide from Steven Gerrards corner in Liverpools only key chance in a subdued performance. The 21-year-old Perez replaced Cisse at the interval, and after scoring the winner in Newcastles 2-1 comeback victory at Tottenham last weekend, proved the difference once again for Pardews side.Newcastle could have secured the result four minutes after scoring when Cabella raced through one-on-one against Mignolet, but the Liverpool goalkeeper saved Cabellas low shot with his feet.Rodgers introduced strikers Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert in search of an equalizer, but Liverpool failed to create anything to challenge Tim Krul. With 13 goals in the past 13 games, Ovechkin now has 29 goals on the season to lead the league.Lewis Hamilton has taken the lead of the world championship with victory ahead of Nico Rosberg in the Hungarian GP. 43 points behind Rosberg five races ago, Hamilton now leads the title race by six points at the halfway stage of the season. The reigning world champion has now won five times at the Hungaroring with his latest triumph the 48th of his F1 career. In the post-race press conference, Mercedes pair Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg have a disagreement over double yellow flags. The race at the Hungaroring was effectively decided when a fast-starting Hamilton beat the pole-sitting Rosberg off the line to assume control on a circuit where overtaking is notoriously difficult and was at a premium this Sunday. It was all down to the start and I lost out, said Rosberg. I ran out of space and that was it really.Twice Rosberg closed to within half a second of his team-mate only for Hamilton to immediately increase his pace and pull away.I knew what I was doing, its not like Ive not been doing this for a long time, Hamilton told Sky Sports F1.There was never a moment that I felt that I was going to lose it. Because its so hot here, you dont need a five or ten second gap. I just need to do what I have to do. Hamilton was also warned to speed up at one stage by his Mercedes team when Red Bulls Daniel Ricciardo, who rounded off the podium to climb to third in the drivers championship, threatened to catch Rosberg. But after Ricciardo ultimately crossed the line almost half a minute behind Hamilton, Red Bull boss Christian Horner conceded: Mercedes were in a different Formula. Red Bulls Max Verstappen battled to keep Kimi Raikkonen from passing him, but they did collide on lap 57 Ferrari and Red Bull are now separated by a single point in the Constructors Championship as pressure continues to ramp up on the stagnating Scuderia. Although Fernando Alonso finished seventh for McLaren, team-mate Jenson Button suffered the race from hell after his car suffered a crippling mechanical failure in the opening stages.Rather farcically, insult was then added to injury when the stewards penalised Button for the radio messages he received as the former world champion sought to fix the problem. It was ridiculous for him to be given a drive-through penalty, thundered Sky F1s Paul di Resta. He is already last - where is the sense in this?Jolyon Palmer, meanwhile, spun when running in the points and finished 12th. The Renault rookie is still yet to score a point this term and remains in urgent need of a positive result as he fights to retain his seat. If he doesnt learn from this it will be goodbye, observed Sky F1s Johnny Herbert. Palmer himself described the mistake as a disaster. Toro Rossos ever-improving Carlos Sainz, the Williams of Valtteri Bottas and Force Indias Nico Hulkenberg rounded off the top ten.The next race, the German GP, takes place in a weeks time and is the last before the sport breaks up for its summer holiday.
